FAQ

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a form of permanent make-up performed by using a very find blade to create one individual hair-like stroke at a time, giving the illusion of more full and fluffy brows. This is the perfect solution for those with a decent amount of brow hair and tight firm skin. This is not the best option for clients with mature skin or very oily skin. A custom color is decided on together with the client either to match existing hair color or desired hair color. After the initial session you will need to come back 6-12 weeks later for a touch-up to address any patchy spots that may have faded during the healing process and to have an opportunity to make any necessary adjustments in shape or color. This touch-up is NOT included in the price of the initial session.

IS IT MICROBLADING PAINFUL?

Prescription strength topical Lidocaine numbing cream is applied and is typically very effective. Most clients feel very little discomfort. After the appointment the eyebrow area may have slight redness or feel like a mild sunburn.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years depending on skin type and skin care routine. Fading is normal and can be caused by oiliness, sun exposure, smoking, sweating, strong skin care products etc., that is why some clients fade more quickly than others. Following the initial session a touch-up is required 6-12 weeks later. This touch up is NOT included in the price of the initial visit. After your initial touch-up I typically recommend waiting 2-3 years before touching up again to avoid over saturating the skin with pigment and looking HARSH.

WHO IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR MICROBLADING?

The following indications are not suitable for Microblading:

-Allergic to Lidocaine, Prilocaine, Benzocaine, Tetracaine, or Epinephrine

-Heart conditions or using heart medication

-Skin disease or irritations in the Brow Area

-Taking Blood Thinning Medications

-Have had Botox in the last 10 days

-Using Accutane in the past year

-Chemical peels in the last 4 weeks

-Have diabetes (required physicians note)

-Anyone currently undergoing chemo-therapy

-Anyone with serious medical conditions will require a physicians note

-Pregnant or Nursing

-Trichotillomania

-Currently Undergoing Fertility Treatments

WHAT ARE THE AFTER-CARE INSTRUCTIONS?

For the first few days check on your brows throughout the day to be sure they are clean & dry.

If needed, gently wipe away any fluid that has built up in the brow area. Avoid water, steam, sweat, and sun on your brows for 10 days. If brows feel tight and dry you may apply a small about of provided aftercare. Avoid excess water in the brow area when showering. Limit showers to 5 minutes. No baths. Avoid sleeping on your stomach or side. When washing your face, go AROUND the brows. Do not wear any makeup in the brow area for at least 10 days. Avoid sun exposure until treated area is healed. Do not scratch, rub, or pick the treated area. Let any flakes exfoliate off naturally on their own. Do not tan in a tanning bed EVER. After your brows are healed, use a DAILY moisturizer with SPF to protect color. No retin-A/retinols on forehead EVER! Avoid any strong skincare products in brow area. Wash your hands before touching your brows.

WHICH TECHNIQUE IS RIGHT FOR ME, MICROBLADING OR POWDER BROWS?

It doesn’t really matter which service you book… when you come to your appointment we always review all possible options and discuss the pros and cons of each to make the best decision specifically catered to you and your brows. If you would like to chat about your brows before you book an appointment you can send photos and do somewhat of a “virtual consult” via Email or Instagram/Facebook DM.

HOW CAN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?!

I only book appointments one day a month (every month on the 15th at 9 am). Let me explain how it works...

Instead of being booked out for months and months in advance like I have in the past I have decided to just book one month at a time from now on. So EVERY month on the 15th at 9 AM booking will open for an entire month of appointments. If all of those appointments are booked in one day, (usually they book in 10 mins or less) my booking will close until the next month on the 15th when another month of appointments become available to book online. All booking is done here on my website  www.mintbrowsokc.com If you would like to book please set a reminder on your phone for the 15th at 9am. I know this is annoying and some will go elsewhere and that’s okay. I am only one person and there are only so many hours in a day. I promise it’s still better than being booked for 6 months in advance. Thank you so much for understanding. ❤️

I’D LIKE A CONSULTATION!

I’m trying to get away from doing in person consultations in order to accommodate all of the people wanting to book full appointments. So instead I would love to do something more like a “virtual consult” over email or Insta DM. If you could send a few photos of your eyebrows, outside in good lighting, with no makeup on, I can make recommendations for you and send you photo examples of what my “vision” would look like for YOU. Also I can answer any questions you may have. I do have a ton of educational information on my Highlight Reel on Instagram and an FAQ page on my website www.mintbrowsokc.com that you may want to check out!

*** If you have any previous work done on your eyebrows you must send photos and get approval before booking. Feel free to send the photos whenever it’s convenient for you and I will get back to you as soon as I can. 😊
